Services for children
Waban provides an array of services for children throughout York County, Maine. Our services are developed to meet social, emotional and academic needs of children with developmental disabilities and to support them and their families through all stages of development.
The Fraser-Ford Child Development Center in Sanford, Maine provides a private special purpose school for children in preschool through fourth grade with autism and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. Waban also offers children’s case management and children’s clinical services.
The Creative Kids Preschool and Daycare is a year-round daycare program for typically developing children.
Fraser-Ford Child Development Center
Children at our special purpose school have access to our team of professionals who work collaboratively to develop individual tailored goals and support plans, which contribute to the optimal success of each child in a caring nurturing environment.
Special Purpose Private School
We are certified and licensed to provide a year-round educational and behavioral health day treatment program to children aged pre-K through grade 4, serving kids with autism, social-emotional and other developmental needs.
Creative Kids Preschool and Daycare
A year-round daycare program for typically developing children, two-and-a-half to five years of age.
Case Management
Helping parents of children from birth to 21 who have intellectual disabilities, mental health disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders or other developmental delays or disabilities to locate and access necessary services and supports for their children.
Clinical Services
Outpatient therapy provides a safe, non-threatening environment where children and adults can work toward individual goals in one-on-one sessions with a licensed, master’s level therapist.

• Licensed by the State of Maine Department of Health & Human Services for Outpatient Therapy and Community Support Services.
Children ages 3 to 5 are referred to the Fraser-Ford Child Development Center by Child Development Services of York County (CDS) at 207-985-7861.
Transportation is available through CDS or your local school district.
Services for adults
Waban’s Adult Programs include both residential and day program services. The residential programs support adults ranging in age from 18 and up and provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a variety of community-based settings. Services include community-based programs that provide life skills, socialization, training, and other volunteer or work opportunities. Case management and clinical services are also available.
Residential Services
A broad range of residential services and supports for adults with autism, intellectual and developmental, and other disabilities. Members reside in an array of community-based settings including small group homes and individual apartments with support staff as needed.
Remote Supports (Tech Works)
Members may choose to be supported remotely. Direct support professionals are a phone call away if needed.
Community Services (Life Works)
Our community and person-center day programs offer numerous opportunities for Members to choose how they’d like to participate. Members can select from various programs ranging from exercise, culinary or life skills classes, coordinated field trips or volunteering opportunities.
Community Membership (Community Supports)
The Community Membership Services at Waban are designed to provide Members with opportunities to develop connections and relationships in the greater community through engaging in activities and accessing resources in the Member’s community. Services are developed for each individual, based on the interests they express.
Staff working with each Member will undergo training specific to assisting people in forming community connections, accessing community resources, and developing community partnerships. All services will take place in the community. The service is flexible, allowing for those participating in it to determine their own schedule and make changes to it as they choose.
People may have a variable schedule based on the activities and connections they are interested in.
Shared Living Option
A residential choice in which families or individuals open their homes to care for an individual with intellectual disabilities.
Case Management
Adult Case Managers provide care coordination, ensuring choice and satisfaction with services (with MaineCare services), as well as monitoring Members’ health and safety.
Clinical Services
Adult’s therapy services are available for a variety of emotional, environmental, interpersonal and behavioral difficulties such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, anger management and bereavement.
- Behavioral consultation for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities is provided by a board-certified behavior analysts who works with the team to develop a positive behavior support plan and provide evidenced-based strategies for individuals to improve participation in their community and to develop meaningful and essential life skills.
